Leaseback

An arrangement to sell your house and stay as a renter. In foreclosure scams, a bait-and-switch that ends in eviction and lost equity.

Legitimate sale-leasebacks exist as genuine financial products. The predatory version uses the same structure as a trap: unaffordable rent, impossible buyback terms, and the loss of both home and equity. Any leaseback offer in a foreclosure situation requires review by an attorney before signing.
